The Arizona Fats, Oils, and Grease (AZFOG) Group comprises municipal pretreatment agencies, public and private sewer districts, non-hazardous liquid waste haulers, treatment facilities, and manufacturers of treatment devices, Maricopa
, Pima, Pinal Counties, and the State of Arizona Pretreatment Coordinator.  Each member deals with specific sanitary sewer regulations which are in place to control discharges generated from food service establishments (FSE) and residential sources.  As progress is made it is the desire of the AZFOG Group to include members from the FSE and all sewer agencies statewide.

Our Goal

The goal of the Arizona FOG Group (AZFOG) is to reduce the amount of fats, oils, and grease that enter sanitary sewer systems.  Our goal can be accomplished through:

Inclusion

·      Include all who work for the food service establishments (FSE), the regulatory community and service industry in the establishment of the criteria, documents, and guidelines to be used.

Commonality

·      Establish sizing requirements, inspection forms, cleaning requirements, and proper disposal requirements that are uniform across the service area.

Consistency

·      Develop consistent guidelines, rules, and policy along with effective enforcement responses that are fair to the FSE and the service industry who work for FSE.

Education

·      Develop education for the FSE, service industry, and residents to make them knowledgeable of best management practices (BMP) that are inexpensive to implement and effective.

The Arizona FOG Group Web Site is funded by the City of Tempe Water Utilities Department.
